Southdowns Juniors selected for England
Congratulations to Junior Squad runners Scarlet Heap (W14) and Stanley Heap (M16) who have been selected to compete for England at Interland on 2 April 2017 in Belgium. Joining them will be former SO junior Jonathan Crickmore (M21) and junior squad coach Chris Hooker (M55).
Coaching at Friston - 09.15 Saturday 28 January 2017
Our next coaching session is at Friston and is open to newcomers, juniors and club members. There is no fee, and over the course of an hour the club’s friendly bunch of coaches will have plenty of tips and advice to pass on. Book your place by contacting Robert Lines.

Coaching Sessions - Spring 2017
There will be coaching sessions ahead of the following Saturday morning events:
JK2017
As many of know the JK is mainly based in Sussex next year (http://www.thejk.org.uk/). The main officials are in place and most aspects of the event are on track. It’s now time to start working on the finer details of event organisation. Given the geographical spread of both our club and the JK, SO will be involved in three of the four events, with the intention that members will be available to help at the event closest to them.
Brighton City Race 2016 - Final Details
Final details for the event are now online. SO Juniors should use helpers’ code SOJuniorFreeRun at Fabian4.
Roger Maher (M75) wins Southern Night Championships on the Quantocks
It was another close competition between SO’s Roger Maher and KERNO rival Arthur Boyt, but Roger took the win by 40 seconds and retained the trophy. There were silver medal finishes for Chris Hooker (M55) and Robert Lines (M50).
Various Medals and Trophies to be collected
Amongst the club, there are several recent trophy and medal winners from the SE Nights and Southern Champs events, Roger Maher has picked up those that have not yet been claimed and will bring them to Broadstone Warren on Sunday 20th Nov.

South East Night Champions
Three Southdowners were crowned SE Night Champions at the Norbury Park Event. Congratulations to Liam Marsh (M18), Ali Hooper (W20-40) and Neil Crickmore (M45-50).
Borde Hill SOG
The SOG at Borde Hill has had to be rearranged as a result of challenges with permissions: the next use of this area will now be in Spring 2017. An alternative venue is being arranged for December 3rd and the curent plan is for this to be Southwater Country Park. The events listing will be updated with details as they become confirmed.
Southern Champions
Congratulations to Scarlet Heap, Sue Parker, Nick Jarvis, Stan Heap, Roger Maher and Alistair Masson who were all crowned Southern Champions at the November Classic.
First Aid Training - Sat 19th Nov
There are still a few places left on the First Aid Training session we are running in November - free for any interested SO members to increase the coverage at our events and also make it easier for people to help and also run at larger events.
Coaching at Stanmer Park
Newcomers and club members are invited to join the next coaching session which will take place at Stanmer Park at 09.15 on Saturday morning 29 October 2016.
SO come 7th in CompassSport Cup Final
The final of the national inter-club competition was held near Barnsley on Oct 16th. Having qualified from the Southern England heat SO eventually finished 7th in the final, a long way behind the winners from Forth Valley but ahead of the other club (HH) representing SE England.
