Coaching at Stanmer Park
Newcomers and club members are invited to join the next coaching session which will take place at Stanmer Park at 09.15 on Saturday morning 29 October 2016.
SO come 7th in CompassSport Cup Final
The final of the national inter-club competition was held near Barnsley on Oct 16th. Having qualified from the Southern England heat SO eventually finished 7th in the final, a long way behind the winners from Forth Valley but ahead of the other club (HH) representing SE England. Contactless SI punching
Some of you may have used, seen or heard about the next generation of SPORTident cards where competitors don’t need to insert their “dibber” into the hole in the control unit but can simply wave it over the control as you run past. It now looks likely that the JK that is being held in the South East next year will use this technology.

SO successes at SE Sprints
Southdowners picked up four medals at the SE Sprint Champs hosted by LOK over the weekend. Our best result was Ruth Rhodes winning the W70+ class.

SO Juniors to defend national night orienteering title
This year’s Peter Palmer Relay championships are being organised by Leicester Orienteering Club on the night of 10/11 September 2016. The SO Junior Squad are the reigning night champions, so we should defend the title with as much vigour as we can muster! Training will be on Saturday evening 3 September 2016. Competition Map.
SO Juniors take second place in national junior finals
Thirty one juniors competed for Sussex in the Yvette Baker Trophy final this afternoon and were narrowly beaten into second place by Bristol Orienteering Klubb. The performance matched SO’s best ever result which was now 15 years ago. Every junior successfully completed their course without a single mispunch. A fantastic team spirit was evident throughout the day. Results. Photos.
