SO Juniors take second place in national junior finals
Thirty one juniors competed for Sussex in the Yvette Baker Trophy final this afternoon and were narrowly beaten into second place by Bristol Orienteering Klubb. The performance matched SO’s best ever result which was now 15 years ago. Every junior successfully completed their course without a single mispunch. A fantastic team spirit was evident throughout the day. Results. Photos.
SO successes at sprint/middle champs
Four Southdowners made the podium at last weekend’s national championships. Top of the list was Roger Maher who won gold at the middle champs on Leith Hill to supplement the bronze won in the Olympic Park the day before.

SO results at the British Championships
We didn’t manage any champions this year but two podium places and some more top ten places following the national championships which took place on Brown Clee Hill in Shropshire.

This year the Club Handicap and the Club AGM will NOT be held together.
Junior Shoe Swap at Angmering
We’ll be running the popular junior squad free shoe swap at Angmering. If you have any orienteering shoes that you’ve grown out of (and don’t want anymore) then bring them along on Sunday to the junior squad table at Assembly. All juniors are welcome to look for a new pair of o shoes. You don’t even need to have a pair to swap :)

The cheaper entry deadline is this Sunday so don’t forget to enter, and also to volunteer to help.

Coaching session this Saturday at the Pashley event
Saturday morning’s coaching session starts at 09.15 and runs for about an hour. Assembly is adjacent to the car park in the Pashley final details. Newcomers, juniors and club members are welcome to join our friendly bunch of coaches for the session. Please let Robert Lines know if you plan to come.
SO Successes at the JK
The traditional Easter weekend orienteering festival saw several Southdowns individuals/teams overcome the hail storms to come away with trophies, medals or flowers.
SO win through tough CSC heat
A tight battle in the New Forest saw our strength in depth come to the fore as we saw off strong competition from SLOW/WIM/SN and TVOC to progress to the national final.
SO Juniors qualify for Yvette Baker Trophy Final
The SO junior squad qualified for the YBT final at DFOK’s Chelwood Vachery event on Sunday. The four SO teams finished in 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th position in a convincing win over teams from SAXONS and DFOK. Full team results.
