Congratulations to…
Stan Heap who was this week named as a member of the Great Britain talent squad (https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/news/3885). Also to Ali Masson who recently competed for Great Britain at Euromeeting 2017, and to Scarlet Heap, Ruth Rhodes, Tommy Heap, Jack Kosky and Neil Crickmore for making the podium at the London City Race. Finally to Ali Masson and Jonny Crickmore who were part of the victorious England SHI team.

Southdowners at World Champs
Last week Jonny Crickmore finished a creditable 32nd in a brutal WOC long race in Estonia and next week sees Ali Masson and Pat Jaffe taking part in the Junior World Orienteering Champs.
Success at the SE Relays
SO came away from the SE relays with two trophies and three further podium places. Congratulations to our two open teams of Pat/Liam/Nick and Bry/Scarlet/Lucy for winning their respective classes.

Follow SO’s top runners at Jukola
As a prelude to the SE Relays the 1600 team overnight Jukola relay will be taking place in Finland this evening. Top SO runners Jack Leitch, Ali Masson and Jonny Crickmore will be competing.

Summer Trail Runs started on April 25th
The popular Tuesday evening trail runs started with a run around Hickstead / Sayers Common. A variety of routes will be available each week from around 3km up to 10km. No controls or timing, just an excuse to go for a run with like minded people.

Alistair Masson selected to run for GB at JWOC
Congratulations to Ali who will represent Great Britain at the Junior World Championships in July.
Trail O success for Matt Leitch
The national Trail-O championships were held in conjunction with BOC and saw Matt win a gold medal for being the top junior (and beat his dad as well).
Heap Juniors win British Relay Title
On day 2 of the British Championships Tommy was joined on the top of the podium by siblings Stan and Scarlet as together they won the Junior Ad Hoc relay trophy.
