JROS Training Camp Selections
After months of selection races all over the country, two of our junior squad members have been selected for the Junior Regional Orienteering Squads (JROS) summer training camps.
Congratulations to Scarlet Heap (W16) who is going to Deeside and Stanley Heap (M18) who is going to Stockholm. Looking forward to hearing your top o-tips when you get back!
British Championships 2018
Huge congratulations to our very own Roger Maher who became the M80 British Champion at Balmoral Castle this weekend. Congratulations also to Scarlet Heap, 4th on W16A and Robin Smith, 7th on M65L. Fantastic results for the SO members that made the long journey north!

Last event of the Spring 2018 league
This Saturday, at Rewell is your last chance to improve your league position at the end of the Spring 2018 league, as well as compete for the Chasing Start Championship Trophy.
The Chasing Start trophy will be awarded at the end of the event.

Lost property from Sunny Sussex
A number of items of clothing were left at our Sunny Sussex event. Please take a look at the attached picture to see if any belongs to you.
There were a pair of Nike trousers, a Craghoppers fleece, a padded jacket, a Mallorca hat and a black zipped band.
Success at British Night Championships
Five hardy Southdowners travelled to south Wales for the British Night Championships on Saturday - Alan Velecky M50, Jane Lambert W55, Scarlet Heap W16, Will Heap M45 and Roger Maher M80. Night orienteering at its very best (and most difficult!) in the sand dunes of Merthyr Mawr. Congratulations to Roger Maher who brought home gold and to Scarlet Heap who won bronze.

Four Southern Night Champions from SO
Eleven Southdowners travelled to the Chilterns to challenge themselves against the dark of Penn Wood. Ed Lines (M20), Alex Lines (M21), Neil Crickmore (M55) and Ruth Rhodes (W75) came away with trophies for winning their age classes.
SE Night Champs at Farnham
Congrats to Neil Crickmore who took gold at yesterday evening's SE Night Champs. There were silver medals for Sue Crickmore and Alexander Lines. Robert Lines, Chris Hooker and Jill Blount won bronze.

Six Southdowners were crowned Southern Long Distance Champions in the New Forest at the weekend. Congratulations to Scarlet Heap, Pat Jaffe, Anna Chapman, Julia Jarvis, Mary Fogo and Mike Gammon.

Stan Heap who was this week named as a member of the Great Britain talent squad (https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/news/3885). Also to Ali Masson who recently competed for Great Britain at Euromeeting 2017, and to Scarlet Heap, Ruth Rhodes, Tommy Heap, Jack Kosky and Neil Crickmore for making the podium at the London City Race. Finally to Ali Masson and Jonny Crickmore who were part of the victorious England SHI team.
