Report

Many thanks to everyone who made it to Slindon on 18th November despite the very wet weather. It was particularly good to see the Chichester District cub and scout teams taking part with some very respectable times on the Yellow, Orange and Green courses.

Slindon Woods were being used for the first time in several years and the map had to be completely drawn from scratch by Chris Hooker. There was a lot of new undergrowth which meant some areas had to be avoided completely, but there remained enough to create some hopefully interesting courses.

A special thanks again to all those who helped both on the day and in the preparation beforehand. Chris H for the map, Neil C for the equipment and loan of a dibber, Karen A for patiently reviewing my Risk assessment, Mike G for printing the maps, Mike R and Penny P for the SI timing, Steve and Jill B at the Start, Michael M for signs and parking, and the SO committee for all their work behind the scenes.

SOG Series Info

SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.

There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.

Help on the day always appreciated.
