What a perfect day! The weather gave us all a chance to see Lancing Ring at its best, and competitors' comments at the finish were most appreciative.
Although not technically difficult, Lancing Ring gives a real challenge in making quick decisions about route-choice, and keeping exact control of one's position on the map - whilst moving at some speed! Even the most experienced made the occasional error. Hopefully anyone new to the sport had a chance to learn from the experience, and their appetite is whetted for future events.
I would encourage others to consider being a planner. There are not many days when I am out and about at dawn, but Lancing was - quite simply - magical.
On your behalf - ie the competitors - I would like to put in our heartfelt thanks all our helpers. Not only the Registration and SI team, but also those who willingly stayed behind at the end in order to collect the controls back in.

SOG Series Info
SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.
There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.
Help on the day always appreciated.

Activities in cold weather or poor conditions require layered clothing with a windproof and/or waterproof shell garment.
Courses have different technical difficulty - please refer to our skills checklist for a summary of skills needed to be successful. If you'd like to learn more skills, read up on our website, come along to our monthly coaching sessions or just ask at download for someone to talk you through.
