Report
A huge thank you to all those who braved stormy winds to compete in, coach at and/or generally help at a windy and at times wet Highdown Hill SOG. Not too many smiling faces at the start, but plenty at the end, even if survival in the face of adversity was the only cause. Twizzled kites were a feature with control points looking more like windsocks. Putting the stake through the flag is the solution we were told! Best wishes to all club members for the festive season from a now dried out planner.

Is a web app for sharing and comparing orienteering routes. You can draw your own route or upload a GPS track from your watch. It also allows you to watch an animated replay with a simulated mass start.
Pre event info
We are offering FREE COACHING this week for juniors and adults. This is part of our monthly coaching programme.
There will be a range of useful skills to be learnt in small groups working with a coach. Rob will be running the session for older juniors (running orange and up) and adults. Karen will be running the session for younger juniors (running yellows) - meet them at the coaching flag at 9:45am, ready for a 10am start.
Please register your interest in good time on Spond or with Anna if you don't have the Spond app email Rob or Karen. Please pre-enter for your course as normal, you will have time to run after the coaching.
SOG Series Info
SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.
There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.
Help on the day always appreciated.

Terrain Description
Miller's Tomb lies astride the ridge and close to the ancient hilltop fort which is a scheduled monument and hence the NT asks us to refrain from stakes and control points in that area. Could be glorious views of the Downs and the sea. But it is December, so mist, rain and chilly winds could be your welcome! So bring plenty of outfits; and seasonally festive ones should you wish. An open area with plenty of scope for running. Equally it is well used by the public, limited in vegetation and size constrained. So not classic orienteering, but a good chance to air your lungs prior to the festive period.
