Report
As always, our events rely on a team of people to make the event run smoothly so I have a list of people to thank. It starts with Steve Blount who emailed me with a schedule of tasks to complete and deadlines to meet which was really helpful. Chris Hooker for his quick updates to the map. Karen Ashworth for providing me with an (almost) idiot proof Risk assessment form to complete. Steve Blount again for doing a sanity check on my courses. Everyone who helped on the day - Steve and Jill Blount for car parking, Steve Jarvis, Neil Watts, Alan Yule and Pete Dudman for the vital role of road crossing marshals, Bea and Matt Waters and Mike and Di Turner for newcomer helping, Euan Marsh, Dave Cummins, Sarah Lowe and Alan Velecky for collecting controls, Joe Barrett and the SI team, plus anyone else who I have missed. Thank you all.
I also must thank my joint organiser Chris Jepson who not only greeted everyone on the start line with a smile but also test ran the green course, helped hang the controls yesterday and this morning as well as putting out the road signs. I hope Chris is getting helper points in the league table ("she is", Joe).
Lastly thank you for taking part, I hope you enjoyed your course.
RouteGadget
Is a web app for sharing and comparing orienteering routes. You can draw your own route or upload a GPS track from your watch. It also allows you to watch an animated replay with a simulated mass start.
SOG Series Info
SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.
There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.
Help on the day always appreciated.

Participants in orienteering must wear appropriate clothing including full leg cover (not shorts). This is a standard rule of the sport to minimise the transmission of blood borne parasites. Activities in cold weather or poor conditions require layered clothing with a windproof and/or waterproof shell garment.
Courses have different technical difficulty - please refer to our skills checklist for a summary of skills needed to be successful. If you'd like to learn more skills, read up on our website, come along to our monthly coaching sessions or just ask at download for someone to talk you through.

Terrain Description
Fantastic area with mixed woodland, good contour detail, river crossings and a friendly amount of paths and rides.
Bracken is mapped as undergrowth slow running. Runnability in bracken varies and is difficult to get through in places. Take care at stream crossings. Some have deep sides which after recent rain may be muddy and slippy.
Suitably grippy shoes are needed.
Dog restrictions
Well behaved dogs on a lead are allowed.
