Report
The whole Angmering SW map stretches a long way northwards from the part of it used today. On my first recce last October, I realised that there was a large swathe of land screened by brambles between the southern area and the runnable parts in the north. In order to link both sections, blue and green courses would have involved long path runs (or shredded kit!) This would not have been ideal for a SOG so I decided to use the southern part of the map only and asked Chris Hooker to provide me with a 1:7,500 base map of that section in place of the 1:10,000 original.
Thanks, Chris, for doing this, it has made the detail in the map much easier to read.
Rainfall in West Sussex so far this year has been nearly double the average. As a result, the public footpaths are in a horrible state, and it is a relief to get off them and into forest, despite the brashings. Storm Goretti in January resulted in many wind blown trees. Luckily, that has only affected the better parts of this area to a limited degree.
Many thanks are due to Vince for checking my drafts and making some minor tweaks to improve the flow of the courses.
Thanks also to Nick H. and Peter S. for marshalling the parking, Peter D. for manning the start and Neil C. for doing all the printing.
The SI team did their usual efficient job, they are amazing! Penny was in charge today, ably assisted by Mike and Sam.
Sarah, Kasia ,Mark, Garry and Ian collected the controls in very quickly, thank you so much.
This event would not have taken place without the kind permission of the Norfolk Estate. As always, Southdowns Orienteers are grateful to the landowner for allowing us access.

SOG Series Info
SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.
There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.
Help on the day always appreciated.
