Directions / Parking
FINAL DETAILS – Thursday 9pm 15/9/22
Registration:
Please sign in and out of the training day so that we know that no one is left out in the terrain at the end of the day.
Car parking and assembly:
The car park entrance is on the north side of the road, just to the west of the footbridge.
Assembly is in the cricket pavilion, 40m north of the car park.
Things to bring:
- Wear orienteering kit and bring a change of clothes in case it’s wet. Ideally, avoid metal studded shoes as we will be in and out of the pavilion during the day.
- Packed lunch and snacks to keep you going through the day
- A watch, so you know when to return from the forest sessions.
- A water bottle, which can be refilled in the pavilion.
- There is a hot water boiler for teas and coffees during the day. Please bring your own cup.
- Full leg cover is a requirement in orienteering, so please do not wear shorts.
Other things to note:
The school is happy for us to use the playing fields, but we should avoid the marked-out pitches.
We are going to work with thumb compasses. We have a supply to lend out, so please let Robert Lines know (via the contacts page) in advance if you want to reserve one.
Fun Orienteering event 16.30-17.30:
Courses close at 18.00, please make sure you return to the pavilion to download and sign out by that time. In most parts of the terrain the bracken is very high. The three courses have attempted to link up the more runnable parts.
Resources and facilities:
All notes will be distributed electronically and maps will be provided on the day on waterproof paper. Tea and coffee available all day. Please bring your own packed lunch and snacks. The pavilion has changing rooms, toilets and drinking water (bring your own bottle).
