Thanks for coming tonight. The golf course requires full attention with one fairway looking just like the next. Mixed responses to the small reflectors on the stakes. Too easy? 90’s was the shortest loop and probably best saved until last. Glad that 1 individual succeeded in getting them all. Big thanks to Joe, Penny, Karen, Garry, Tommy and Stan.

RouteGadget

Is a web app for sharing and comparing orienteering routes. You can draw your own route or upload a GPS track from your watch. It also allows you to watch an animated replay with a simulated mass start.

Directions / Parking

Parking will be in the Fisherman's Car Park just before the golf course (free after 4pm). Turn left just before the entrance to Tilgate Park and follow the golf course access road. W3W: ///regime.liner.bridge. There is a 2m height restriction in the car park, if you intend coming in a taller vehicle you can park in nearby streets.

Course Information

The event is a 60 minute score event with three set of controls, 70s, 80s and 90s. 24 controls in total not including change over control 100.

Collect as many controls as you can in a set before swapping to another set.

Between each set you must punch control 100.

Sets can be completed in any order and controls within a set also in any order.

There is no return to previous sets.

Terrain Description

Golf course with open fairways and blocks of woodland. Bracken is mapped using the slow run vegetation symbol and varies in runnability.

Spare torch/phone with torch mandatory.

U16 runners only permitted to run solo if they can provide evidence that they are normally able to complete a TD5 course. Otherwise must be accompanied by an adult or run in pairs.

ALL juniors not accompanied by an adult must comply with the following requirements:

  1. demonstrate before they set out that they can orient a map with a compass and that they recognise the basic map symbols required
  2. run with a phone
  3. make sure that phone has the event emergency number entered
  4. make sure that phone has what-3-words loaded so they can tell you an exact location
  5. take a whistle (and know what to do with it)
  6. take backup lighting or run in pairs/groups so loss of one head torch is not a disaster
  7. make sure they know closing time and have watch/phone to check time on

Safety bearing N until meet E-W path between golf course and housing estate. Follow this west then south round to road with car park on. Alternatively, follow fairway back towards golf club and make way west from there back to car park
