Planners Comments
I tried to make sure that everyone enjoyed the event and had to think about how to collect the most controls early on. It was a nice day and we had lots of new faces joining us. Thanks to Gethyn for organising everything.

Organisers Comments
Hi All,
Thank you all very much for a great job today. What with the nice weather and all your help, I had a very good relaxing day. We did such a good job, one of us even won the trophy! Well done Chris Jepson, first female to win this competition. Thanks Bridget for bringing the signs. Thanks Will and family for doing all the very tasty mulled wine. Thanks Ralph, Les, Joe & Mike for SI support and quick results. And thanks Liam for planning and helping me out with all the controls end of things. We should do it again. (Don’t tell Di)

Miscellaneous
This event was founded on Boxing Day 1978 by Elizabeth Brown. Elizabeth was a top class orienteer, in the early years of SO. She helped put SO on the map and regularly won the British Champs and JK throughout her career and twice won gold at the World Masters Champs. Following her passing in May 2011 it was felt a fitting tribute to rename the annual Christmas event in her memory. Elizabeth's family donated her splendid and unique slate W70 trophy from the 1992 JK at Bigland in the Lake District. An age-related handicapped system is used to determine the winner each year based on their performance in the 60 minute class. Read more about previous winners of the trophy here.
