Over the weekend of 24th and 25th Sept, four of our SO junior squad travelled to Northern Ireland with the South East Junior Squad (SEJS) to take part in the Junior Inter-Regional Champs. Emils Ummers, Tommy Heap, Heather High and Ben Chapman all had the privilege of representing the South East at this great team event.

The individual on Saturday and the Relay on Sunday both took place at Tyrella - an area of technical sand dunes (used for JK2011). Take a look at the courses here: https://www.lvo.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#484&course=1

In the individual race, Heather got a podium place with a 3rd on W16 and Heather, Ben and Emils all scored points to contribute to a team placement of 5th equal with South Central after the individual race.

On Saturday night over 200 juniors enjoyed a Ceilidh at the event centre - a great opportunity to meet friends from other clubs and have a bit of fun!

Sunday’s relay started on the same range with a run up the road into the dunes. Heather was running up in the boys team (due to a lack of boys in SEJS). She was definitely an asset, as they had the best result and came 4th. Austin, Ben and Emils were 9th (8th scoring team). Cecilia, Bors and Tommy were 25th. With 2 teams scoring per region SEJS were equal 3rd with NW in the relay. Check out this video of the relays - see how many SEJS or SO juniors you can spot!

Once the overall scores were calculated SEJS were 5th with 368 points. Well done to all the team.

If anyone is interested in learning more about getting into the South East Junior Squad please contact Will Heap. It is generally open to M/W14+ who are regularly running at regional events and getting reasonable results. There are lots of opportunities for coaching and exciting team events. Next year they will be off to Wales.
