Report

Many thanks to Worth School for allowing us access to their excellent facilities for the event and AGM. The map was actually produced for the School to complement their DofE-type activities but they were happy for us to use it. As sprint areas go it's not the most complex but offered the opportunity to set a number of "traps" - you will probably know whether or not you got caught by any of these. Each time I visited the school something had changed but one change that I didn't spot was that one of the stiles on the boundary wall had been removed and bricked in. Fortunately it wasn't too tricky to climb the wall at the point where the stile had been. I had hoped to have all the courses on the main site but just couldn't plan a yellow south of the road hence the separate course around the playing fields. I had to leave for a cricket match as soon as all the competitors were in so thanks to the Curtis family for control collecting, the Hulleys for car parking, Penny and Mike on SI and Steve Blount for negotiating all the permissions.

Park O Series Info

Park-Os are friendly club events, usually in parks or school grounds, where children and newcomers are very welcome. These are fun events where you can get a feeling for the sport – you can walk or run, go as a group or on your own or challenge your navigation at high speed against some of our top competitive orienteers. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Sprint courses are run or walked by any age group.

The Park-O series takes place in the early summer and early Autumn and is 8 events this year. Certificates are awarded for the best placed in a variety of age categories.
