Report

The weather can improve! Selhurst allowed over 110 competitors to prove their worth in open forest running, with a bit of a slope in places, and also enjoy favourable weather. What a pleasant change from all that slip sliding of the previous few months. We also welcomed a group of scouts from Bersted for a taster session and they seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks to Karen for coaching them. Car parking was not quite the problem we expected thanks to great work by Barrie and Maggy. Alan did an ace job juggling keys, gates, locks and keeping Forestry England happy. A personal thanks to Mike Gammon for his help in route design and keeping me broadly on track! And of course let us never forget all that background work by the committee and SI gang which goes on relentlessly and makes these events happen. Finally to Maggy Sawyer and Garry Greenstreet a massive thanks for their help with set-up and clear-up. So let us hope the sun is out to stay and we can enjoy the rest of the season.

RouteGadget

Is a web app for sharing and comparing orienteering routes. You can draw your own route or upload a GPS track from your watch. It also allows you to watch an animated replay with a simulated mass start.

SOG Series Info

SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.

There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.

Help on the day always appreciated.
