Report

Provisional results are now posted.

Thank you all for attending and hopefully had a good time, thank you to all the helpers, especially the planner on the day Chris along with the organiser Steve.

Planner's Comments

Thank you all for coming to Knowlands on this blustery morning. This event was originally scheduled for last Spring but knowing how consistent this area is in terms of runnability, we decided to retain Ayla and Simon's courses with just a few minor modifications around the start area (where one start had to become 2). My only input really was to throw in the pile of wire fencing control, in order to deflect runners away from running through the Blue/Orange start area and, in the main, this seemed to work. From the feedback that I had, Ayla and Simon's courses were well received with many discovering that you couldn't afford to switch off! It seems that the fields to the north caused problems, certainly quite a few errors happened there!

As always, no event is able to run without its volunteers so I would like to thank Steve for doing much of the organising, Clive and Darren for helping with the starts, Neil for helping to set things up this morning and for organising entries, Jill and Rob for parking, Penny and Liam for finance, Ayla and Simon for planning great courses, and Les, Paul, and Joe for SI support. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone but if so, my apologies and my thanks too.

Thank you

Chris

SOG Series Info

SOGs are friendly club events where children and newcomers are very welcome. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Green and Blue courses are run or walked by any age group - you can race competitively or just enjoy the woodland.

There are two series of events - autumn and spring of approximately 8 events each. Electronic timing (SI) is used.

Help on the day always appreciated.

Miscellaneous

This event is mainly for experienced orienteers. Unfortunately, as per the guidelines, in the current circumstances we are unable to offer much assistance to beginners.

Safety bearing is south to the boundary fields. Then go east to find the parking area.

Please ensure you have read and adhere to the British Orienteering Code of Conduct.

Arrive at the event ready to run and use the contactless payment system. Then wait in your car until it is time for you to start.

There are 2 starts close to each other to the west of the parking area and registration/download area (allow 5 minutes to get there). The route to both is the same. The finish will follow the same route back so please walk on the left at all times and maintain a distance of at least 2m from other people.

Keep 2m apart whilst waiting to start.

Competitors will start at 1 minute intervals with only one person starting each minute.

Punching start and finish, all other controls will be SIAC enabled.

Move away briskly from the start and all controls. If you need a breather then find a quiet area away from where other competitors are likely to appear.

At the end of your run punch the finish and move away to a quiet area to recover before making your way to download.

No splits or results displays will be available. Results will appear on the club website shortly after the event.

Once you have finished and downloaded please leave the event.

There are likely to be many ticks in this area so shorts and vests are not to be worn.
