Planners Report (Daniel Jones):
The first Park-O of the 2023 summer events, took place at Kidbrooke Park, Forest Row. The Sprint course posed many challenging navigation choices and went around school buildings, and playgrounds, as well as the school gardens and parkland. Leg 16 to 17 (results corrected Sunday am, an extra leg had been excluded) on the Sprint course was removed due to confusion around old, prohibited fence line markings being not distinct enough in appearance to that of the permitted fence crossing markings, at this scale of the map. This led to some runners meeting closed gates that were not considered to be near any running routes, to have been opened.
The Orange and Yellow routes were undertaken by a good number of members, and we had a good number of junior guests opt to try these courses.

Park O Series Info
Park-Os are friendly club events, usually in parks or school grounds, where children and newcomers are very welcome. These are fun events where you can get a feeling for the sport – you can walk or run, go as a group or on your own or challenge your navigation at high speed against some of our top competitive orienteers. Yellow and Orange courses are suitable for children to run on their own with a bit of practice. Adults are welcome to shadow children until they are confident to go on their own. Sprint courses are run or walked by any age group.
The Park-O series takes place in the early summer and early Autumn and is 8 events this year. Certificates are awarded for the best placed in a variety of age categories.
