Report

Thanks in advance to the helpers who have volunteered and made it all possible: Joe Barrett for SI; Gary Greenstreet for Routegadget and control collecting; and Rob Leathley, LittleDave(TM) and Edward Lines for control collecting.

RouteGadget

Is a web app for sharing and comparing orienteering routes. You can draw your own route or upload a GPS track from your watch. It also allows you to watch an animated replay with a simulated mass start.

Pre event info

Whistle and back-up torch required for juniors, and hi viz clothing highly recommended. All safety kit available to borrow from Rob - please ask. Adults recommended to carry spare torch and whistle. In an emergency head uphill towards the lights of the Dyke Tavern where assembly is located

It's a punching start/finish for safety reasons. All other controls will be SIAC enabled.

Location Info

Nearest town: Brighton

* Postcodes are not very precise in some areas, so don't rely on them for an exact location.

Directions / Parking

National Trust car park at the Dyke tavern. In the area adjacent to the start/finish, we have been asked not to use stakes for the controls (to avoid disturbing an ancient monument). To this end, some of the controls will be hung via cords. The event is offering free hire of a SIAC contactless card to minimise the delay of punching the controls on strings. Please ask Rob on the night, and let Joe (SI Team) know if you have swapped from your normal SI card.

In the far eastern part of the map, there is temporary electric fencing that might possibly affect runners on the Green and Blue courses. It's at a height of 70cm, and is possible to circumnavigate if necessary.
