Two teams of SO Juniors travelled to the Peter Palmer Relays at Chetwynd Barracks near Nottingham at the weekend, straight after the Sprint event at East Court.
The Peter Palmer Relay is a 6 leg night/day relay event, just for Junior teams, held annually. The start was at 04.45am and was set inside a large hangar, as was the handover, finish and accomodation. Earlier on in the evening the Army had a climbing wall and a gun run set up for the teams to try out.
The A Team of Nick Jarvis, Lucy Thraves, Shona Masson, Alistair Masson, Edward Lines, Tom Jarvis and Jonathan Crickmore all ran their legs in a total time of 196.44, placing them 5th overall in the competition for the Peter Palmer trophy and 2nd in the handicap Joan George Trophy competition for teams with a combined age of under 90. Jonathan was also the overall winner on his leg.
The second team of Alex Lines, Rachel Collins, Jack Ashworth, Dan Corbie, Jack Leitch & Matthew Leitch, some of whom had not experienced the Peter Palmer Relay before also completed their courses. Well done to them all !
