Southdowners go OK Nuts!

Southdowns juniors had some particularly impressive results at the OK Nuts Trophy regional event on Sunday 29 Nov ’09 – boding well for the Yvette Baker Trophy final this Sunday at Tilgate.

The OK Nuts Trophy event is an annual event staged by South London Orienteers and Wayfarers (SLOW) and features a number of trophy competitions. This prestige event is usually (if they’re not involved in national championships etc.) the premier event of the year staged by the London club and attracts a high level of competition in the region.

The organiser of the event specifically identified the following as demonstrating a particularly high level of performance:

Jonathan Crickmore (M16) – awarded the Margaret Loveless Trophy for coming second on the Black (Elite!) Course whilst still an M16. Jonathan was in close contention for the main trophy of the fixture (the Mike Wells Cole Trophy) – won by Ed Catmur (who Jonathan pushed into second place at the S Night Champs the previous evening).

Lucy Thraves (W16) – winning the Green course by a large margin (nearly 7 minutes).

Other Southdowners had some excellent results:

Alan Velecky (M40) – One of our current British Champions, in third place on Black (and close behind Jonathan).
Neil Crickmore (M45) – 3rd Place on Brown (less than 1 min off the lead).
Nick Jarvis (M14) – winner of the Light Green course.
Alex Lines (M14) – 4th place on Light Green.
Edward Lines (M12) – 3rd Place on the Orange course.
Tom Jarvis (M10) – 2nd Place on the Yellow course.
