The first entry deadline for the JK2008 is looming close now - 31st January.
Later events will be possible up to 7th March, but will be more expensive. This is a fantastic opportunity to take part in one of the biggest events in the British Orienteering calendar without having to travel too far - The four days of competition take place in Surrey, Sussex, and Kent.
The full title of the event is the “Jan Kjellstrom International Festival of Orienteering”.
This event takes place every year at Easter and rotates round the UK regions. It is often the best attended event of the year (2-3000+ participants!). In 2008 it is the turn of South East England to host the event.
A Sprint Race on Good Friday (21 March) at University of Surrey (Guildford)
Two individual races (each day similar to a regional event) at Leith Hill (Sat 22 March) and Ashdown Forest (Sun 23 March)
A relay Competition on Easter Monday (24 March) at Eridge Old Park (near Tunbridge wells).
Entries for the Sprint and Individual races need to be made to the organisers by the participants. Entries into the relay (classes and teams to suit almost everyone!) are made via the Club Captain (entry for this is currently less urgent).
Full details may be found at the Event Website.
Online Entries can be made at the Entries Website
This could be an ideal opportunity for SO members to venture beyond the Saturday (usually!) SOG events and have a go at one of the more important events. The bonus with this one is that it takes place on relatively familiar terrain.

Don’t forget that we will want as many SO members as possible to help on Day 3, in Ashdown Forest. So even if you are not sure about running, come along for the experience and to help. Please e-mail me if you are available.
