The Sussex Sprint Series kicks off in just over a month’s time and this year it will be the best 5 scores from 9 to count. There are two opportunities to score twice on the same day, so these will be among the events not to be missed:

5 July 2008 - Hove Park, and Blatchington Mill School

30 August 2008 - SE Sprint Champs at Sussex University

There will be eight classes for both M/W competitors. This is similar to last year, but with an additional class for younger juniors running the main Sprint course.

Points will be awarded according to the formula:

((((average course time)-(competitor’s time))/(course standard deviation))*200)+1000

This would give points for a recent race as in the example pasted below. It’s not a million miles away from the way the ranking points system works, but thanks to Excel, there won’t be a two week wait for the results :).

Planners will be allocated a score equivalent to the average of their best four races at the end of the Championship.
