Nearest event for most Southdowners on Sunday 19th July will be the Mole Valley “Frolic” event at Nonsuch Park, Cheam. This is just off the A217 - the “other” road that runs north from Crawley in addition to the A23 - and thus readily accessible.

“Frolic” (the acronym originally stood for First Running Of London Inter-club Championship) courses used to be thought too short to be worth travelling to, but the advent of sprint orienteering has changed that attitude in most people. In any case, this event offers an “extension” bringing the total course length up to nearly 7km. Yellow and Orange courses are also on offer.

The area has been chosen for being pleasant orienteering even at this time of year, and you can expect to spend most of your course running on mown grass rides, diving occasionally into small copses. It’s not wildly technical, but you’ll have to travel 100 miles plus to find anything better on this Sunday.

Flyer may be found on the Mole home page at http://www.mvoc.org/

See you there?
