Moles are borrowing this SLOW area for a Tuesday evening event.

Although in Surrey, it is very accessible from Sussex; indeed many Southdowners will be able to reach it quicker than the further-flung Sogaloppens. It’s just off the A24 Worthing/Horsham road near Dorking.
From the south, leave the A24 at the roundabout at the start of the Dorking bypass (where the dual carriageway ends). Follow this road into the edge of Dorking, and at traffic lights turn left onto the A25 towards Guildford. After 500m, turn left at a brown “Bury Hill Fisheries” sign, and the event car park is on your left.

The Nower is a lovely little area, sandy soil, so always well-drained. Like everywhere else, it has undergrowth at this time of year, but much of it is still runnable. There’s a good path network, and the Mole elephant has spent this evening ensuring that those few controls which are in grot now have a nice track in from the nearest path. Survivors of today’s 2-in-1 will be pleased to know that there are absolutely no brashings!
The event is a 60 minute score, which means that rather than have a set course, you choose which of 30 controls you wish to visit. You get points for punching controls, and lose them for taking more than an hour.
There is a twist to the normal score rules, in that there are two maps, each with 15 controls. When you’ve had enough of the first map, you can return to the start and pick up the second. The catch is that once you have done this, you are not allowed to visit any more controls on the first map. That should keep you thinking....
Starts are from 18:45 to 19:30, and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants in Dorking for post-event analysis.
