There were all sorts of problems with this years 3-in-1, the latest being permission being withdrawn for the original area barely a month ago.

Pat did a fantastic job of devising a couple of contrasting courses at Selhurst at very short notice. I’m delighted that we had two sets of courses to put something of the multi-event challenge into the event. I would hope that no-one would knock the event for not having the traditional trio of courses.

Michael was the ever resourceful organiser and coped with the organisational aspects of the late change. Particular congratulations to him for providing the back-up toilet facility. We’ve become familiar with the standard plastic toilets at larger events such as this, but a recent change in the terms of our event insurance policy now makes arranging for rented toilets at publicly accessible venues prohibitive for smaller events as it is necessary to have the toilets delivered and removed on the day of the event. A decision was made that a fee equivalent to £2/head for toilets would be unacceptable. Michael’s alternative solution to this was admirable!

In summary, many thanks to all concerned for a very enjoyable event!

Peter

OOPS! Sorry for forgetting to mention Jillian in the organising team. She seemed ever so relaxed at the E start when I saw her! The normal quiet, but thorough, efficiency that is Jillian’s trademark was well evident. Well done Pat, Michael AND Jillian!

Can I also add to Peter’s comments re the event at Selhurst yesterday - many thanks to the Planning/Organising team of Pat, Michael & Jillian for turning around a non-starter at Rewell to a fantastic event in such a short space of time !

It was a really good turnout, better than I think we were expecting and thank you also to Pat, Jillian & Michael for arranging the weather - much better than the forecast !

As a relative newcomer to orienteering, this was my first ‘multi’ event. If I hadn’t have read the website, I would never have known there had been a problem because the organisation & planning were superb! I really enjoyed myself - the courses were excellent, the weather wonderful, and the views from the car park stunning! Well done to everyone involved, and thanks for such a lovely day. :-)
