First-class event on Saturday. Great, too, to see so many youngsters. There were some unbelievable times on the run in, though. Seven seconds for 140 metres? Any chance there were two finish units and one of them wasn’t sync-ed?

Hi Simon

I pondered that very question myself, especially as it was so tight for the top three finishers on Green. It seems though that there was a single finish box that may have been running approximately 45 seconds faster than the final control. This would then make the differing leg times far less significant.

I guess it’s definitely worth sync’ing all the boxes before each event.

Cheers

Rob.

Simon!

You’ve just ruined my week. Looking at the splits the only bit I thought I was any good at was the run-in, and now you’ve burst my bubble.....but many thanks to everyone who organised the event. I thought it was a lovely run out. Thanks

There was only one finish box used (unless anyone actually punched the spare on the ground). It seems that the last control (111) was probably a bit out of synch since total run times are accurate to the second according to some who timed themselves. No-one seems concerned that their split from 100-111 was overly long!

Isnchronised just before the Ditchling SOG and most seemed to be pretty accurate. At a SOG with only one unit per control it doesn’t really matter if some units have drifted a bit since it will be the same for everyone.

As for the run in splits anyone who took less than “15” seconds just can’t have been trying hard enough around the rest of the course. Either that or they had taken a sneaky breather just before the last control just to get that fast split.

P.S. I thought that every control after number 2 was unfair and the blue race timing should have been stopped at control 2.
