So, what has everyone been up to during those long summer (light) evening nights? Sitting in front of the tv, frustrated at the lack of night orienteering?
Well, don’t worry. The long wait is nearly over. The evenings are drawing in nicely and darkness arrives nearly early enough to justify some night-O. In anticipation of sunset arriving at 7pm ish in a couple of weeks time, the Kent Night Cup returns shortly. Event 1, of which I am the proud planner, (or alternatively, that I had my arm twisted to organise whilst sharing a car with Nick back from Shooters Hill to Tunbridge Wells) is provisionally booked for Knole Park on Thursday 18th September. Put the date in your diary now and let all your friends know too. Full details should hopefully be on Saxons’ web site this weekend.
Format will be pretty much the same as last year under the principle of if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it. Provisional details are for parking to be on the SW side of Knole, nice and handy for a pub social afterwards. There will be one score course of 20 controls and a whole 60 minutes in which to visit them. I’m sure there will also be an array of amazing prizes on offer for those taking part.
So, keep an eye on the website for full details. Let’s start the new KNC season with a bang!
Alan.
