Finally the map is complete (for now) and the courses are planned. This area (the north half of which has not been used for many years) is in great condition with most of it being very runnable. There are a few bramble patches and many of the rides have brambles alongside them - I have tried to show where these are on the map, and although you can run through them, courses have been planned to give you a chance to avoid most of them. Unfortunately nettles are now showing and both blue and green courses (and possibly orange) will encounter some - let’s hope for a cold week and little growth!! Lower leg protection will probably be a wise option.

The courses themselves should provide an interesting challenge:
Yellow will be fast and mostly downhill!
Orange has a few legs to encourage you off the paths and into the woods a short distance.
Green has been a real head-ache (as I wanted to get it into the north of the map) but after trying out several ideas I hope I’ve got it right!
Blue will possibly be the most challenging SOG course you’ll attempt this year. It is physical and has some interesting navigational challenges. And it has a downhill run-in!!!

Whichever course you choose, I look forward to seeing you and hope you enjoy it on Saturday 26th!

Alex and I had a run round the Green course earlier this evening (as we can’t make it on Saturday). Really enjoyed it. There’s nothing better than running through the forest on a sunny evening with a new map.

There are very early signs of brambles in some parts, but the forests are mainly white and the runnability is excellent. Great mapping and a fantastic course. Definitely not one to be missed.
