Clubbers face indoor navigation challenge

Tuesday’s club night will be based in and around the large sports hall at Blatchington Mill School and club captain Neil Crickmore has devised a series of exercises to challenge participants. Club night is open to all members and non-members and the fee is just £1. A small torch and an SI card will be needed, but can be borrowed if necessary. http://www.adventurerunning.org.uk

Lucy Thraves retains the Margaret Loveless trophy for SO

It was a great day for SO at the SE Middle Distance Champs with Lucy achieving the rare success of winning the ML Trophy from a course with TD4 technical difficulty. Winning both JW4 and the whole of course 6 by over 5 minutes made the England runner the obvious choice for the trophy. Full results HERE, and some (camera phone) photos HERE.

SONiC 1 Event results

It was an autumnal evening in Haywards Heath this evening, where 31 brave souls took part in the first SONiC event. The Jarvis Family had planned a Street Score event using lamposts, postboxes, church noticeboards and their own house as control sites !

Reality and the virtual merged at Tuesday’s Club Night

The software programme ‘Catching Features’ was employed to great effect last night. Using a big screen display in the Sports Hall, SO juniors competed within the animated version of Blatchington Mill School. At the same time the rest of the group donned headtorches and ran the courses for real in an attempt to beat Intel-powered juniors. Can a club night get better than this?

What a difference a day makes - the sun was shining all weekend and the Caddihoe Chase, an annual two day competition, held this year on the New Forest attracted several SO members and some successes.

CompassSport Cup Final - Sun 19 Oct ‘08

Only a few weeks now until the final of the CompassSport Cup which this year is being held in Sutton Park, Birmingham.
