Oaken Wood, Kent Night Cup

The new weekly night orienteering fixture is proving to be a major hit with orienteers across the South East. Numbers at round 3 of the Kent Night Cup (KNC) were double the season’s average. One second at Goodwood costs juniors a clean sweep

SO juniors were a single second away from winning every course at the opening event of the autumn gallopen series. The White, Yellow, and Orange courses had already been won by Mathew Leitch (M10), Edward Lines (M10), and Nicholas Jarvis (M12) respectively. Jonathan Crickmore (M14) then stormed the Blue course, achieving 5.61 min/km, but was pipped at the post by Kenny Leitch who scraped a win by the narrowest of margins.

Junior Night Orienteering

Night orienteering in the South East kicks off on Thursday 20 September 2007 with an event organised by Saxons at Angley Woods. For SO juniors it’s now easy to get into night orienteering with the possibility of borrowing headtorches from the junior squad. Contact Robert Lines who has them charged and ready to go.

Sussex Sprint Championships 2007 - Final Tables - Photos

The Sussex Sprint Championships came to a successful conclusion last weekend with prize-giving after the Preston Park event. During the course of the six races there were 209 competitors; the figure made up of runners from 17 orienteering clubs. We were also pleased to welcome 38 runners that were having a go at the sport for the first time. On average the races attracted 86 runners, with the most popular races after the summer break each exceeding 100 competitors.
