Report

Rather unfortunate that the first control that I put out went missing. The neighbours were quick to point the finger at one resident but despite Rob's excellent work we have been unable to retrieve it. We have done our best to credit those who look likely to have looked for 108. It shows somewhere in the results as "108 (10)" without any time. Just email si@southdowns-orienteers.org.uk if you think anything needs correcting. Sadly we can't credit the time spent looking for it.

The event was very similar in format to the last one that Jane Lambert planned. I made a few more map updates and put in the wood option to the north but otherwise a very similar challenge. Congratulations to local boy Troy for beating this year's challenge. It was good to see the local mountain bikers out and about again - they are the ones listed as n/c in the results.

Thanks to Joe for running the results software and to Chris, Clive and Sue for control collecting.

Our next KNC event is on Tilgate golf course in January. Let's hope that the weather is as nice then as it was this evening and also for the SE Middle Champs on Sunday.

Pre event info

The first of SO's contributions to the Kent Night Cup will be an urban event around Uckfield.

SONiC Series Info

SONiCs are events held during the evening hours of darkness and take place either around streets or in parks/woods. They are score events where you get an hour to visit as many controls as you can, with everyone starting at the same time. For insurance purposes juniors under the age (actual age) of 16 are not allowed to compete in street events unaccompanied. For the street events a small torch is helpful to read the map. For forest events a stronger (head)torch is recommended.
