The CompassSport Cup is the national inter-club team competition and is structured so that any club member can enter - with the 25 scorers coming from a range of different age classes. It consists of a regional heat and a final and this year SO are hosting the regional heat at Worth Lodge. Given home advantage we have every chance of reaching the final which is in the beautiful Forest of Dean in November.

Although entries are officially made by club captains I have set up a racesignup page for SO members to use for entry which I shall then use for start time allocation and the formal entry process. Note that this page is not visible from the racesignup home page and can only be accessed by those with the above link.

The rules of the CompassSport Cup allocate age classes to courses as seen in the attached table. Competitors are though allowed to 'run up', ie run a longer course than the suggested one and still score. You are not though allowed to run a shorter course. When you enter please indicate which course you would prefer to run - I will then take a look at may make some adjustments for tactical reasons.

Should we reach the final the club will heavily subsidise the trip down there - in the past we have hired a coach to take us to the final and back in a day trip. As well as being the CompassSport Cup heat our event at Worth is also a National Event and promises to be a top quality event. The senior entry fee for the event is £11 - SO juniors are of course free, there is no need to enter the usual junior discount code for this event. You do have to be a member of British Orienteering to take part so if you haven't already done so this would be an excellent time to join.

Although the first closing date has passed we can still accept late entries until Friday 3rd. Futher details about the CompassSport Cup can be found here.

If any SO member would like to take part in this event but does not feel confident enough to run their recommended course you can enter one of the non-cup courses (Light Green, Yellow or White). The fee for seniors entering these courses is £5.50, if you enter one of the non-cup courses enter the discount code LGYW to ensure that you pay the lesser fee.
